I used to think of myself as a purely documentary photographer - but over the years a lot of fine art elements have woven in.  I capture authentic moments - but also want you to relive the way those moments felt.My photos tend to feature rich colours and deep contrasts. They play with natural grain, blur and all the ideosyncracies of working with photography.  I'm also a big fan of multilayering stories so images can look more like tapestries or artwork with a level of complexity that I couldn't invent if I tried. My work draws on inspirations from Renaissance artists, through street photography and right through to modern cinema.  I also love experimenting with analog cameras and instant film and draw this experience and aesthetic (softness, imperfection, warmth) into my work.
