Are you Ready to Schedule a Documentary Family Photo Session?
FAMILY COMES FIRST - Recently, some of our England family photojournalists have communicated their readiness to work with families who are able to carry on with their normal life and who want it documented. Family Photojournalist Association professional members offer a distinct and natural style of unobtrusive photography that will capture genuine, candid moments of you, your children, and even extended family enjoying time together...everyone gets in the pictures and you will likely forget the photographer is even there.
The purpose of documentary family photography is to tell a story — your story. You will be able to feel the love that you have for one another in the images. You will see the beauty that results when you are not posed or directed by your photographer to sit in a contrived position and smile on command at the camera. The FPJA has an abundance of top-ranked, Surrey family photographers who are available right now. Find yours today!

Hi I'm Karen and I'm a family and brand photographer based on the London / Surrey borders. To me, family is everything. Milestones are important, they mark our journey through life, but for me those everyday connections with the people you love are what we will want to remember. Over the last twelve years of being a professional photographer I've witnessed and documented so many wonderful moments within families whether it be at celebrations or everyday life at home. I know from experience how fleeting childhood is ...even if it doesn't feel like it at the time! I can't believe how quickly my three boys grew up and I'm so glad I had my camera around to document most of it. As parents, we need to be in the photos too so that our children can see how much they are loved and re-live the many funny, messy, emotional moments that make up family life. When I'm not photographing families, you'll find me out on long walks with my dog, exploring a bit of street photography or trying to perfect the ultimate Thai curry.

The gal looking through that window into your world. I'm mum to a nearly 18yr old forensic science student, mummy to a 3 yr old climbing princess with goggles on her head and always in a tutu, step-mum to a 10yr old flamingo-obsessed singing mermaid, and an 8yr old footballer! I should probably mention my gorgeous and supportive hubby who can not only fix the electrics but also cooks me delicious dinners and spoils me rotten. Life here is organised chaos, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have a very relaxed style of photography and like to let things unfold naturally, encouraging children to run around and explore so that I can see them naturally, keeping them engaged and capturing their individual expressions and unscripted moments, this is the point in lifestyle photography. I’m always happy to give gentle direction with any type of portrait and even with family lifestyle sessions, I will generally take a handful of group photos, parent and child portraits, and individual photos of the child/ children, aiming for a mix of a small number somewhat posed as well as the main bigger bulk of the images being un-posed and true. They don’t have to be elaborate affairs, some of my favourite photos were normal, simple, everyday moments - captured beautifully and naturally, using natural light, which I’m known for.

I've been a photojournalist ever since leaving university, firstly for The Times newspaper in London, lately for engaged couples and new families. My clients value high quality documentary photography, and love the work I produce. Photography is very much an art, in that the work produced reflects the photographers personality and background. It's why ten different photographers will produce ten different pictures from the same scene. Find the photographer who's work connects with you. Then get them to help your family build their heirloom.

Hi, I'm Anja. I'm a photographer and Filmmaker based on the south coast of England. I document life as it is. The messy and the beautiful. Because it is all part of life. I believe that your photos are less for yourself and more for those around you. That's why best behaviour and fancy outfits aren't needed when photographing your family. The people in our lives judge us based on our actions and how we make them feel, rather than how we look. So be your beautiful self and let me document the love in your life!

Surrey Birth Sessions at Home or Hospital
The birth of your child is an experience that is filled with both beauty and chaos. It’s a moment in time that you won’t want to forget, yet it’s an experience in which the details may fade away in the coming weeks, months and years. To capture the first moments in which you meet your baby and those first special hours together, you should enlist the help of a Surrey documentary birth photographer. An experienced family photographer who specializes in documentary birth sessions will be able to capture your labor journey, the birth experience and the immediate reaction that you have when you see your baby’s face for the first time — all while respecting your space. The right photographer will be able to use discretion while focusing on the fleeting moments that you will want to remember from your birth experience. Whether you plan to give birth at home or at the hospital, you can book a documentary birth session with a professional reportage-style birth photographer.
